Float Away Anxiety - Excerpt 11
One hour of floating gave 75% of the subjects a relaxation they had never experienced in their lives.
The studies were done with 50 patients with anxiety and stress symptoms. They had tried many things in their lives to reduce these and to relax. Three quarters of them had tried with antidepressants, some with other techniques such as meditation and marijuana, see the first table. Many of these people were called treatment resistant because so many methods did not work.
The patients were all given a one-hour float session. Then they were asked to compare the relaxation during and after the float session with the other techniques they had tried.
The result is shown in the second table:
Almost 75% experienced more relaxation with floating than with any other technique they had tried.
Almost 25% found floating to be as good as the other techniques they had tried.
About 2% experienced more relaxation with the other techniques.
This is about people who were suffering and could not improve with the therapies they had at that time. One hour of floating ended up giving them more relaxation than they had ever felt in all their lives. This is phenomenal.
